It is still early in the morning when i am being picked up by a taxi arranged by my friend and guide Than Than…. Today we are going to the mountains area of Mandalay and bring a visit to Pyin oo Lwin… Pyin oo Lwin was formally know as Maymyo, a scenic hill town in Mandalay Division, Myanmar. It is located in the Shan Highland, about 67 kilometers east of Mandalay. Also located close to this are the National Botanic Gardens.
The Trip through the mountains gives an impressive view of this part of Myanmar where in some parts the old buildings make place for elegant new ones… It is a country in winds of of change… The traffic here is an experience where trucks climb up and down the mountains, between cars and small mopeds… On the way to Pyin oo Lwin we visit some other interesting places as Maha Ant Htoo Kan Thar Pagoda, Pwe Gauk waterfall. Arriving at the Pyin Oo Lwin botanical garden the driver parks the car and we make our way to the botanical garden.. Many countries have flower gardens, however Pyin Oo Lwin is something extraordinary… Besides the flower exhibition where you can find various artistic creations of flower groups… The lake in the center surrounded by the forest gives this place a magical atmosphere…
The Myanmar people here are very open to make a talk with you.. Also they are very colorful dressed as this place expresses … Being open throughout the year, Pyin Oo Lwin has a huge advance over other outside botanic gardens.. Also the animals find their place here, for instance the Swans, by their presence, give this place a tremendous experience… In the fish lake we spot huge groups of large fishes… A dream come true for some fishermen.. However it is forbidden to catch them guys..
A few stupas on this location gives the gentle Myanmar touch to this place.. A trip over the wooden bridge, then walking over path at the edge of lake and forest is fantastic.. Some moments the path cuts through the surrounding forest… Then ending at the road on which you can walk back near the other side of the river to fish lake.. feel free to enjoy the magic touch of Pyin Oo Lwin. Where the time seems to stand still, until you watch the clock…
