A voyage through a Kings Land Part II
The second day of travel in Mandalay division and a fantastic day to explore the outer area.. The Mandalay division region is extremely beautiful and interesting.. In a short time it is easy to travel to Sagian Hill, the archeological area and Amarapura with Ubin Bridge… This is the plan for this day… After arranging a motorbike taxi we make our way to Sagaing Hill taking the Sagaing-Mandalay road.
After a short time we make our way over the Yadanabon Bridge, it is build across the Ayeyarwaddy river… Busses, trucks, cars, bicycles and the small motorbikes go across this bridge to the other side… Driving over this bridge gives a great view over the mighty Ayerwaddy river… Different kind of ships making their way and the beauty Sagaing Hill at the other side… The river is low this time of year very shallow at some places.. At the other side of the bridge we arrive at the Sagaing area, the portal expresses its regions beauty…
Making our way up Mandalay Hill the day before was a remarkable climb… Sagaing Hill is more of a challenge to climb, as the stairs are even more steep here as the ones at Mandalay Hill. Half way we can take a short rest and enjoy the view over the area.. Really amazing.. It makes you become silent if you really want to enjoy this.. Halfway it is time to charge our energy, eat and drink something… The food is very delicious at this place, you be able to choose as spicy as you wish…
After lunch we continue upwards through this beautifully and carefully decorated pillar hall.. The painting against the roof tells a story for itself… We meet the Golden Rabbit making a picture here and make your wishes for health and fortunate for the ones you care about… Making our way to the top the heat can be felt again, with a view down Sagaing Hill towards the Ayeyarwaddy… Time to Ring the Bell and go down the stairs again…
Encountering people making their way up we try to encourage them the trip upwards is worth it… With a deep sigh they continue… Arriving down we make our way back from Sagaing Hill across the Yadanabon Bridge… Shortly after that we arrive at a landing point for small boats to take us across the Myitnge River … Many locals selling hats against the sun and bottles of water… The trip takes about 10 minutes… Great moment to take a photo with the Inwa Bridge at the background…
On the other side of the Myitnge River there is the Innwa archeological area… We arrange a driver with horse and tilt car… Great way to go around this area… After you have bought an archeological area pass, there are many great places to visit… Slowly though steady we make our way through the area with the horse and car. This is an area of small settlements, Ruins and monasteries as the famous Nanmyin Tower, Maha Aungmye Bozan monastery… Images placed here can give you some impressions of this area… a somewhat strange diversion of beauty and every corner which seems to have its own story…
At some places on the route you can see the places of worship with impressive wooden hand carved stairs inside the buildings… Here at the Innwa area the Maha Aungmye Bozan monastery is the top on the Wishlist of place to visit… Entering this site is really a thrill makes you imagine how it has been in its glory days… Two dragon-Dog statues at the entrance… The guarding officers are very friendly with some helpful info we visit the site.. This impressive place has some old age marks as it is build in the year 1818.. However it is fortunately being resorted to the original state…
It is clear to notice the white resorted parts… at ground level the passages underneath the building… Upstairs we find the inside chambers though even walking here outside gives this tremendous feeling… The site has several stupas everyone of them a master piece of art and construction… As we getting hear to the end of the afternoon it is time to make our way to Amarapura with the U Bein’s Bridge….
The U Bein’s bridge is believed to be the world longest teakwood Bridge… It was constructed in 1850, with a length of 1,2 kilometers it spans the Thaungthaman lake at Amarapura. Besides a passage way for local people, it is a huge tourist attraction… People come here to enjoy the sunset, it is as living inside a miracle… Some people choose to go on the lake by boat to be able to make this romantic sunset photo’s.
At the end of the afternoon the temperature here is very comfortable. Also as for me probably also you will run into the tourists you have met earlier in the day… Take your time to enjoy how the sun changes its colors and slides slowly downwards saying bye to this incredible day… Back in Mandalay we and our day with some delicious local food 🙂
