Jurong bird park, Singapore’s flying entertainment
A day at Jurong Bird park… Lets see what Singapore’s famous bird park is like… At Boon Lay Mrt the crowded bus brings us to the Jurong bird park entrance… It is easy to recognize the entrance with that, eye catching, blue pillar at the park place entrance… It is 10 am in the morning, though there are many people at the entrance, we can enter the park quickly… We just missed the early morning visitor peek… With a park plan in hand it is time to start our tour… 380 bird species, so enough to see… The park plan also describes accurately at what time every show starts and the birds feeding times… Two shows at noon are interesting for us. We take a walk through the park first…
We take a look at the penguins at penguin coast… Its build in a huge wooden boat structure… Somehow the penguins always give a remarkable feeling… Most of them standing silent looking ahead… One take a dive and is swimming fun to see… Another scratches itself behind the head standing on one foot, fantastic balance!!! We go out walk pass the flamingo pool and the wetlands… Here taking a short cut to Fountain plaza where is the lunch with parrots…
We visit the South-east Asian birds just across fountain plaza… Amazing jungle look alike area with many feathered friends walking around… Besides the little birds also beautiful pawns walk here… When taking bit of time and patience bird do come very close… Fantastic moment to make a picture… Time to continue our trip to the next spot… Via the Songbird terrace where they have the entertaining lunch with parrots show…
Passing the dinosaur descendants we arrive at the African Waterfall Aviary… The beautiful & colorful replica of an African home in the front lane… With the sculptures of 2 people sitting in front of the house… Up the lane to the African waterfall entrance… There are restrooms & restaurant here… The blowing fans give refreshing air in this hottest time of the day… After a short rest, drink and a sandwich we head forward to discover the waterfall…
Though the valley we walk.. Stream of water floating with the birds flying around… After making few turns left and right the high waterfall catches the eyes… Refreshing and cooling water in this valley of green… Favorite spot for visitors to make a picture… Great moment to take this opportunity… Enjoying the sights here and slowly walk to the waterfall exit… The “Knights of the Skies” show is next on the list… So means making a walk to the Hawk walk… We can view the pelican cove, flamingo lake and the wetlands on the way… Passing the “Birds of Play”, a water playground real fun for kids…
On time for the “Knights of the Skies” show… This show has impressive predator birds as hawks, owls and falcons… Fantastic to see them fly and hunt the fake prey… The storyteller gives a clear explanation of the birds skills and use in history… The skilled crew make the show an entertaining, educating and amusing performance.. Everyone dressed in costumes of the middle ages… Fantastic to see the birds fly at the at the end of the show… The “World of Darkness” is on the route… Sounds more scary then it is… Different types of owls can be seen here… The “Birds and Buddies” show is ahead…
The Jurong Bird Park has many more spots to visit… It is really worth the day when animals have your interest… Really enjoyed The visit at Jurong Bird Park… Had a fantastic day full of special memories… Thank you for this wonderful day..
