Haw Par Villa, the mysterious garden

Haw Par Villa, the garden of Chinese mythology…

Another enjoying diversion during my stay in Singapore, we decided to make a visit to Haw Par Villa… This unique garden tells you the stories and events based on the famous Chinese mythology and legends… At the entrance we noticed it gives the impression as seeing the gate of an ancient Chinese city… Going through the gate we entered this wonderland of beautiful landscapes… For us a bit lucky to come there on a quit day… Such a moment could take the time to make my pictures…The park is divided in 12 area’s… One of the first area’s is the Pavilion and Pagoda… Beautiful are these pagoda’s with small bridges over the water… In the water we could see the turtles swimming…

Visit the 3 gods of happiness, wealth and longevity… Near these 3 gods there is a donation box… Give a donation and can make a wish to one of them… Made my donation and wish… What will your wish be???  We made our way to the eight immortals and the tale of madam white snake… Amazing to see the expressions on these sculptures… Some of friendship and joy, some of battle and greed… There are over a thousand sculptures in Haw Par Villa… They give you an excellent representation of the tales told…

Take few minutes to carefully look these events and even be able to see and imagine that you actually are being a part of it… Through second gates we came at the AW family memorials… A giant pillar in the sky… The memorial is made for the founders Aw Boon Par and Aw Boon Haw… Enjoyable are the walks through this wonderful, sometimes strange park… Folklore and fable all around you

One of the last events to mention is “The journey to the west”… With Tripitaka’s second and third disciple and battle of the monkey gods… This part expresses their 14 year long journey with battling countless of spirits and demons… Scarlett child trapped Tripitaka at the flame mountain… Some other parts which are recommended to see are the Haw Par House, Hua Song Museum…  The last part “Ten Courts of Hell” is not recommended for kids… We leave the Haw Par Villa with a lot of mixed impressions… It was well worth visiting it

Admission to Haw Par Villa is free… For a visit to the Han Son museum an entrance ticked must be bought

How to get there??? With Mrt:  Station Haw Par Villa… You find the park close to the metro station exit…
