The Southern Ridges Trail of Miracles… Part 2
Continue the incredible voyage through Singapore’s green heart.
A real adventures, challenging trip through the other side of the Southern Ridges which starts at Hortpark entrance… At this point you can very easy spot the impressive Alexandra Arch bridge… The Alexandra Arch bridge looks like a bent bow, ready to shoot to its arrow… Impressive by day and gorgeous looking in lights at evening. Up the bridge the path is a sloping curve takes you across the road where the Forest walk begins…
As a steel serpentine winding through the forest tree tops this bridge is making her way uphill… Its a fantastic view when you look over the trees listening to the whispering sound of small animals all around… Thrilling feeling to go all up the stairs following the serpents path… Its a quite a climb, though view is amazing and as reward there is a shelter at the top… Excellent place for sitting down to eat and drink something… From here starts the Hilltop Walk…
You can go up the first high hill using the small path on the left… Another option is to walk left or right around the highest hill and skip it… We walked up to get an impression of the view of the trail and it is surprising, just go and see… At the end on the other side of this high hill there are stairs downwards… They take you back to the road that was made around the hill… Here starts a path through the trees that leads to the beautiful Telok Blangah Park terrace… Here you have a stunning 360 degrees view over Singapore… At the end of the Telok Blangah Park terrace stairs guide you down start point of the famous Henderson Waves…
This part of the Southern Ridges trail gives the most exciting feeling… The Henderson Waves is an extra ordinary trail with the Henderson Waves Bridge.. Its a recommendation to visit this spot during your stay in Singapore… Build 36 meters above Henderson road it is the highest pedestrian bridge in Singapore… Besides that the real fun, charm and excitement of this incredible wooden path are the flowing curves it makes… It brings a tremendous feeling to stand and watch the view, or sit against the high round side of this bridge…
Taking a look at the view another piece of Singaporean art can be found in the construction of the buildings… The Henderson Waves bridge ends at the beginning of Mount Faber Park… The Mount Faber loop walk trail mainly follows the road with various places to sit and relax… The road passes the jewel Box with a cable car station… At the cable car station you can buy a ticket to Harbor Front or to Sentosa Island.
There is a short cut in this trail. This short cut does not follow the complete road, however it leads you to the Jewel Box more quickly… At the end of the Mount Faber Loop walk, you can continue walk via Mount Faber road or the Marang Trail… We choose the Marang Trail as its also the best way back to Harbor Front Mrt… The Marang Trail is a quiet downhill walk via paths and steps through the forest jungle… Wonderful silent part of the Southern Ridges trail, at some moments small animals can be spot here…
The Marang Trail can be a nice beginning or ending of your adventure… For us the afternoon was ending, we reached harbor front Mrt… A fantastic day richer, a stomach calling for dinner…
