Traveling with the 132dn train from Lashio to Hsipaw means the pleasure of having the time to enjoy viewing the beautiful country.. Also people traveling with the train are very friendly.. Arriving with the train from Lashio in Hsipaw at 9.15 means check-in at the hostel can be done early even possible to have a breakfast.. For the place of stay in Hsipaw, Yee Shin Guest house was the choice for me… There are many guest houses in Hsipaw as this is the place for backpackers visiting Myanmar… Yee Shin Guest house was easy to find.. Just down the road from the station.. After check-in which went smoothly, the attentive and polite lady explained the newly arrived about the most interesting places to visit in Hsipaw..
A really good self made trekking map of the area and the places to see was given by the lady of Yee Shin Guest House. Also she informed about the free transport to the mountain for viewing the sunset at Hsipaw. After breakfast the first trip made was to Hsipaw’s Shan palace. Easy to find and interesting walk which gives good first impressions about the city… At the Shan palace is the friendly Lady Fern is a very gracious host, in her sitting room she welcomes visitors and tells about the history of the Shan Palace and the family… Also she answers the questions about the area. Interesting was her story about the Myanmar thee production.. At the Shan Palace there is no admission fee, however a donation is welcome to maintain the palace..
Around noon the next place to visit was the area called little Bagan… Called as it has several Stupa’s as you can find in Bagan.. Naturally compared with Bagan, Hsipaw has just a few stupa’s… However the trekking walk brings you through a great area where the camera and eye can enjoy the view.. A walk across a small bridge where you able to walk near the river.. It is also a pleasure to see the people and get in touch with them.. Enjoy a cup of Myanmar thee which is free at most places when you order something to drink or eat…
Arriving back at the guest house just before 16.00, the mini-van was arriving to take the guests to the mountain.. A real pleasure to go up the mountain this way as the local temperature was about 35*c… The spot where we arrived is perfect! A fantastic view over Hsipaw, the river and the mountains..
Also a shrine is located at this place which empowers the enjoyment of experiencing the sunset… When the sun moves down behind the mountains, the sky turns from blue, orange to red just before the darkness falls… While waiting this event, two small dogs could find the pleasure by testing their strength on one of the guests socks which they discovered in his the shoes…
After enjoying the view we make our trip back to the guest house… After a shower and clean clothes, time for a dinner.. Hsipaw offers Chinese, Indian and especially delicious Myanmar cuisine.. After that its enjoyable to take a walk through the streets, which are still full with activity… Can have a talk with the friendly locals while enjoying a coffee, thee or any other refreshment that you desire..
The day ends Time to rest and prepare for the day to come, Always Grateful for your friendship…
