The Inle Lake is a fantastic place to be for this boat rides through beautiful Water world… Kalaw on the other hand has it Amazing mountains to go for trekking… At Kalaw trekking for 1 day or more days is possible. With experienced guides it is really a fantastic experience… One that should be on everyone’s agenda of place to visit in Myanmar… In Kalaw you can easy find a trekking guide who can take you out for a day trip through the mountains… A two, three or more days trip if you prefer…
However starting trekking from Kalaw to the Inle lake is the best experience you can get… In the morning i Arranged the trekking guide at the guest house i stay in Kalaw. After breakfast the guide from Jungle King Trekking and me go on our way. Many guides are Nepali from origin people that are expert trekkers. With our Jungle King guide we start early in the morning at 8.00. After 10 minutes we leave Kalaw behind us and going of the easy road. We continue our way on the sand path. We hear a cow bells ringing and behind us a Shepard friendly smiling passes us… His tools a stick and yes also already equipped with a mobile phone.. When he is stopping for a few minutes, he informs about our origin.
We continue our path heading up way at the mountain side. The view is amazing every turn of the path brings you a new breath taking view over the mountains. Tea fields are overwhelming in this area. The Myanmar tea is a high quality product. We spot some of the local workers on the fields.. With a hat on the head to protect them against the burning sun. At their break time they head up the road and we have a short talk with them… The friendly people invite us to drink tea with them and take the picture together…
After the tea the trip continues. After few hours trekking we reach our first settlement with children playing and waving… In the center of the settlement there is a place of worship and few monks… Very near it is also a building which is used as the local school the guide informs me… Continuing our way the path, i notice it goes around a few mountains… The view here is amazing… The guide tells that it is not advised to go trekking without a guide as in this area it very simple to loose your way…
The temperature in Kalaw is moderate compared with the rest of Myanmar… However bringing enough water to drink is always recommended… We Reach the highest point of this day just past noon. Here we take a brake and a delicious local lunch is waiting at the rest point… No need to pay for it, all included the trekking guide informs us…
Rice with mutton or chicken can be served, it tastes delicious! Naturally fruit and vegetables are included too…
After 45 minutes we continue on our way… During the trekking trip, the guide points out to remain careful here. He explains that at some parts of the sand road because of the rains from last days the road became very slippery… We spot some crabs running away in the mud… Pretty fast those guys are… We Heading downwards now and we must be aware a bit for mopeds passing..
Usually here you notice the 125 cc motorbikes which people use for transport… Before ending of our day we make some last pictures of this never stopping to surprise area… Our trekking Day ends at 17.00. Time for dinner and go to enjoy the sunset.. Kalaw trekking already the first day was even better then expected… Next day, preparing for our trip to Pindaya…
